July 30th to August 6th 2016
Celebrating 100 Years of Friends and Community
In The Northern New England School of Religious Education
In New England, there is a tease of Spring in the air that helps you to draw a full, clean breath and remember that good things are soon to come… like Winni! So it is time to fold up your winter sweater, close the flue on the fireplace, and get out your checkbook so you can secure your place at Geneva Point Center this summer for another wonderful week of Winni. Remember to note on your calendar that Winni begins on July 30th this year and goes till the following Saturday, August 6th.
This year promises to be an extra-grand time (as if that is even possible) as we celebrate our 100th year as the intentional community and conference known as the Northern New England School of Religious Education (NNESRE). In the attached brochure, you will read a wonderful overview of NNESRE crafted by our archivist Kate Fioravanti, a titillating selection of classes culled by our Program Coordinator Allie Bruch, our Ed. School overview by our new Ed. School Coordinators, Hillary Irvine and Andy Slezak, and always inspiring registration, housing, n’ money stuff by our Business Manager Leslie Dockendorff.
Please read the brochure carefully and note that there are some great things to look forward to… such as the return of some Winni alumni we have not seen in many years: Luke Higgins, and former Deans Bill Roberts and Bill Foster! Also, note that we have the opportunity to secure Geneva Woods if our numbers grow significantly – so if you have 50 close friends that you want to bring to Winni – you can secure a whole mini-camp area for all of you! Make your Winni Week a family and/or friend reunion!
Let’s celebrate the 100th year of NNESRE in grand style! Register early and most importantly – don’t hide it under a bushel – No! – let NNESRE shine by sending the brochure to your family and friends who have not had the NNESRE experience yet. Let them know what it has meant to you and offer it as their opportunity to become part of a larger community that has shaped lives in many powerful ways for generations. And especially this year, let’s see if we can bring back some friends who haven’t been to Winni in years and let them know we miss them and want them back in the fold.
Our theme this year is “Live Winni!” – to celebrate the influence that this one week in the summer has had on changing our other 51 weeks during the year. So take a deep breath, sit back and enjoy reading the brochure, imagine the “what ifs” for this summer, and then “Live Winni!” by registering, coming back, and bringing friends who can help us move into our second century together!
We can’t wait to see you this summer at Winni 2016!
Much love,
Bill n’ Joann Milford
Your Co-Deans
PS – Some of you may rightly challenge, what’s a guy who lives in Florida know about a hint of spring in the air in New England. I was just up there for a little while so na-na back at you.
